I began the book about The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu (a bit stodgy so far), and I read a preface (by Julian Barnes) to Elizabeth David's A Book of Mediterranean Food, which was informative, clever and funny! And also inspired me to make her fresh tomato soup, but that's another story. :)
I breezed through the late Stuart Hamilton's memoir "Opening Windows". For someone in the Toronto opera scene it's an interesting insight to how we have ended up where we are. For good and not so good.
I love weekends when I read. It is always unpredictable. Last weekend I was immersed, by chance, in a book about the first inhabitants in the Atlas Region of south Morocco :) It got me so intrigued that I had to search for names and places on youtube. It was not easy but I found about four interesting documentaries that even added more mystery to all that I was reading about origins, myth, etc.
