Since last report, I have read just one thing, i.e. the 12th volume of [personal profile] the_comfortable_courtesan. This is the end of the main story, wahhh! Though there is at least one related novella out, which I hope will also be collected as an ebook.

I went through my AO3 email alerts folder, and read through the next chapter of all the WIPs I've been sucked in on that have updated, and all the new one-shots by authors I follow.

I've also made progress on In favour of the sensitive man by Anaïs Nin. I really liked the first section ('Women and Men'), which was feminism and social commentary, but I'm finding the criticism section to be a bit blah. I hadn't found anything I was inspired to follow up on until the last one I read (although from the first section, I added Zelda Fitzgerald's one novel to my to read list).

I've been reading Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett, which is about her friendship with the late poet Lucy Grealy. (And also an old article on The Guardian website by Lucy Grealy's sister tearing the book apart.) I love Ann Patchett's writing but hesitated with this one because the person who recced it said it left her a sobbing mess, which isn't my thing generally. I haven't found it to be true though. I don't want to say I found it inspiring, because that's not precisely true (and would seem oddly morbid), but she has some things to say about writing that really struck me in my core.

Anyway. That and a really awful fic on AO3 that I couldn't quit for a show that I don't even watch. Links to links to links and suddenly I'm three hours into (so) bad (it's good) fic. *shrug*

Finished A Street Cat Named Bob by James Bowen and about to start A Gift From Bob. Drew me in this story since Bob looks a lot like my little ginger baby. Nice little heartwarming story of the bond between man and cat. And I'm a sucker for animal stories.
