Ooh, ooh, I've read this and really liked it. Hope you get those spare hours.

Having read on an info-graphic that reading an hour a day in ones chosen field brings one to international expert in seven years, and being thoroughly bemused at such an idea, have gone back to reading in my chosen field ... hoping to finish the first two chapters of R Graphics.

I'm figuring that anything that relates is better than nothing. So, at the moment, pretty simple stuff (making pretty graphs in my analysis program of choice). Later, I hope to work my way through the other text books on my bedside table, and then the folder of journal articles that I've been collecting for the last ten years. I'm probably also going to read the various '100' level texts that I have, so that I'm familiar enough with them to be able to point students at the right sections.

My hope is that the 'easy' stuff will be come so routine that I can scan through a text and find out what is different/new, and that the 'hard' stuff will become clearer.
