We've both been missing in action for a couple of weeks, due to things like Easter, travel, work schedules, and deadlines.

So while this is a regular back-on-schedule daily reading post, do feel free to comment below with what you have been reading between the Easter Break and now.

I was camping at a festival for 6 days, so there wasn't much time for recreational reading, but I did manage to find time for about one chapter of Tremontaine most nights.

Since I've been home I've been catching up on social media and trying to make sense of news stories like the Panama Papers leaks.

I read the Hutcheons' book on creativity in old age "Four Last Songs" and reread "persuasion". I'm now working my way through Alex Ross' "The Rest is Noise".

The Hutcheons book sounds interesting. Would you recommend it?

I would though if you are looking for some sort of grand theory of creativity in old age you won't find it. The four case studies they look at; Verdi, Strauss, Messiaen and Britten, while all astonishingly creative at the end of their lives all seem to be so for quite individual reasons.

I have at least skim-read all 81 of the technical documents we are submitting tonight.

I've been reading Oliver Sacks "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat", as it was recommended to me. I'm finding it a little voyeuristic, and a little condescending to the reader at the same time. I can see a point to it, in terms of making unusual neurological issues more known by the general population, but I'm feeling really icky reading it.

I finished The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis. I found it good but predictable. Still one more book to go before I am finished with the Chronicles of Narnia.

I read it when it was a big seller in the late 80s and I was young and less sensitive to disability politics.
