I want to read this book. it's on my list. How do you like it so far?

Nation? I'm liking it very much; it's got some great world-building, two very engaging characters (in the sense that the reader engages with them) and a lot of clever, humane, witty observation of cultures and their various manifestations - also some terrific descriptions of big events, with great language use, usually.

I'm finding it full of interesting material, but not well written. It feels jumbled with information coming helter-skelter, and switching focus unexpectedly; I think it needs a re-edit for structure and pruning extraneous material. I'd still recommend it, for the opening up of a whole fascinating and important world of past and continuing scholarship and custodianship under difficulties. Caveat: I'm not even a quarter of the way in yet!

Thank you! The title was a bit ironic to me, so I thought it would have some funny hints, and yet the subject is very fascinating and interesting. Sad that it probably needs to be re-edited, but nevertheless, I will give it a try:)

All the library books which are suddenly due back at the end of the week. Hoping to get significant amount of progress on 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' in the next day or two, and then at least one of the others by Friday (maybe 'The Future Eaters', which I'm halfway through)
