I have been catching up with my Serial Reader issues of Northanger Abbey, which is my present comfort re-read.

It was the anniversary of Pratchett's death on Sunday, so I'm commemorating by reading The Thief of Time.

Slow progress on Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy. This may well be a classic, but it is very hard going at this point. Mental illness, poverty, domestic abuse, and a number of other issues mostly originating from poverty with a side order of racism -- exhausting just to read about.

I was about 16 when I read that for the first time, and it is a personal favourite, but these days I would definitely warn for potentially triggering content.

I think I would have coped with it much better at 16 - not just because I was more resilient, but because it would have been educational rather than just reinforcing too many stories I've already heard. Really having to make time to read it though, because otherwise I'm avoiding it.

Definitely more interesting and educational and less triggering at that age.
