Weekend Reading Roundup (03 July 2017)

How did your weekend reading go? If you planned on anything specifically, did you read it?

i'm reading 'american gods' by neil gaiman after watching the starz series. i'm enjoying the book, but it varies from the tv series in a lot of details and i didn't want to read a 'different' story, i wanted to read more between the lines and in depth behind what i saw on screen.

i'm also almost done with 'get well soon' by jennifer wright which is a witty but also compassionate and thoughtful history of plagues through the ages and of how societies dealt with those events. it's an excellent book.

I started re-reading Eight Days of Luke by Diana Wynne Jones.

It is probably 30 years since I last read this - I've forgotten so much of the early story, and so little of the rather terrifying characterisation.

I got through two chapters of The God We Never Knew by Marcus J. Borg. I'm enjoying it so far.

I finished The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman, which was my plan and a good bit of fun--think adventurous spy librarians who steal books from alternate universes for a mysterious library. Full of intrigue, literary references, and mechanized alligators. For the 4th, I'm reading Hidden Figures, which is turning out to be a surprisingly fast (and good) read.
