i'm reading 'american gods' by neil gaiman after watching the starz series. i'm enjoying the book, but it varies from the tv series in a lot of details and i didn't want to read a 'different' story, i wanted to read more between the lines and in depth behind what i saw on screen.
i'm also almost done with 'get well soon' by jennifer wright which is a witty but also compassionate and thoughtful history of plagues through the ages and of how societies dealt with those events. it's an excellent book.
That sounds frustrating. I read American Gods years ago and remember feeling pretty lukewarm about it. I wonder if I'd enjoy the series now that I can no longer recall the details!
OTOH, the plague history sounds fascinating. I have a delightful book called The Encyclopedia of Plagues and Pestilences which would make a nice companion volume.
