Ooh, gosh, I think I might like that, but I’m a bit concerned since The Guardian quoted the chair of the Costa judges as saying it’s “part horror story”. I have a very low threshold for “too much horror”. How would you say it compares to, say, our recently-discussed Coraline in terms of horror?
Ooh. Um, I would say it starts off with very little horror, but by the end, the horror factor's ramped up pretty high. I don't think you would much enjoy the last quarter of the book, especially since it involves the main character (who is herself still a child) defending her younger sibling (on her own) from horrible things.
