What do you plan to read this weekend?
Everything counts! Whether it's a book, the Sunday paper, an article you opened in a new tab and promptly forgot about, or the labels on your washing.

Date: 2015-05-16 06:08 pm (UTC)Found a copy online of the manual for the vintage yogurt maker I unearthed from the back of the closet. \o/ I shall start a batch this afternoon, so it can incubate overnight. I've made it before in the crock pot, and it was a success, but it's fussy to do. The yogurt maker is brainlessly easy - no need to monitor the temperature and so forth.

Date: 2015-05-17 01:42 am (UTC)It came out pretty good, but unlike the breads I've made using package yeast, I like it better as toast than fresh.
My starter is still good. I plan to try to make a loaf every week, so that will be a good routine for feeding the starter on a regular basis.

Date: 2015-05-17 11:22 am (UTC)That's interesting about toast vs. fresh; I wonder what it is about the sourdough that makes you feel that way? Me, unless a loaf is still warm and steamy from the oven, my default preference is for toast.
A weekly loaf of sourdough sounds lovely. Good plan. *g*

Date: 2015-05-20 01:42 am (UTC)I think for me it's something to do with the balance between sponginess and crumbliness, and sourdoughs tend toward the spongy end of the spectrum, so toasting restores some crumbliness.
