I read Fourteen by Leslie Johansen Nack. I was a bit afraid it was going to be too much of a misery memoir, but it genuinely wasn't; the sailing parts were at elast as important as the coming of age stuff, and both were in balance.
I finished the fourth Harriet Hamster book, and a reread of 'Eight Days of Luke', both of which have been half read for over a week. I need to write reviews on them both, but haven't made the effort yet.
I finally got around to reading Captain Vorpatril's Alliance, it was entertaining, but not particularly memorable. Also I think I have read too much Ivan/By fic to see it as anything but a weird au
I agree that it's a really weird AU, and I think that even in terms of the Bujold canon. The spontaneity of the whole turning point of the plot was so not Ivan! And I hated what she did with Byerley as well.
