I've just started on Edward St. Aubyn's Patrick Melrose novels. He's a sort of updated Simon Raven. He writes very well and very funnily about absolutely appalling rich people.

A romance by an author I've enjoyed in the past but this one is more ensemble than I prefer.

I made the mistake of picking up T Kingfisher's "The Seventh Bride" just before bed with the idea of reading a chapter. Had to stop (most of the way through) just before midnight, but so far I'm loving it, and the rather pointed commentary it makes about how choices aren't when there is a significant power differential ("Peasants don't say no to lords"). The fairy tale aspect is pretty interesting as well.

Book was great!

I should know better though. I have boring, can't be bothered to finish books beside the bed for exactly this situation, so that I do only read for the specified half hour. But this had arrived in the mail just that day.....

This is the first one I've read -- I have a friend keeps spruiking them to me, but I don't like buying ebooks, so have been waiting for physical copies to be available.

It was still the third when I read Tending the Bull by Sannion. It counts. :)
