Glad to hear you liked Fire Boy. That's on the list of books I mean to read but haven't actually acquired yet.

My main complaint about Fire Boy is the ending is a bit like running in to a brick wall. Given that the sequel is out (and I have a copy, because I tripped over it in an unplanned bookshop trip on Monday) I'm hoping that it will follow seamlessly on, and explain the way the previous one stopped.
