I read frank get the door by janey godley which is ...basically a transcript of video voice overs Janey did at the start of the pandemic talking over vidds mostly of the Scottish first minister adding humour and swear words. But she always got the messages across. 'wash your hands for this time' 'stay inside' ext. The book was sold to make profits for charity and remains funny. IT is hard to explain but GOOD
Kind of? But at the same time, hearing Scottish and reading Scottish are very different if you don't understand that language. And I think half the humour is understanding the lingo. But look up Janey Godley voiceovers on youtube. That will give you an idea.
That's kind of what I was wondering -- I have a number of Scottish friends, and while in general I understand what they say, I'm reasonably sure that they moderate their vocabulary around Australians who are not also Scots.
