Or: what DIDN'T you read this week?

We all have things we mean to read, but never quite find the time, whether it's a bunch of unopened tabs, or an ever growing pile of books by the bed.

What's on your to-be-read list this week?

I am looking guiltily at the three dozen or so articles I have sitting in Pocket.

I came home to find that my copy of Bram Stoker's The Lady of the Shroud has arrived so I'm going to re-read that. (It is terrible re: stereotyped gender roles, assumed superiority of English culture, painful Victorian idealism. It's overblown, sentimental, blinkered, jingoistic, moralising imperialist propaganda. I love it because it makes me LOL continually.)

I was supposed to start catching up on newsletters but then I got too stressed and then my internet went out so I can't really catch up on them until it's fixed.

Boo!

So... this week, my goal is to clean out all of my old newsletters (from May and before) and pick through the new ones. And remember that I only have to read the stuff that sounds interesting. Yes.

Yeah, a lot of these are links to other articles, so I just have to learn that I don't have to read literally everything.

All The Email. I really would like to get all three inboxes to <100 (or lower) by the end of the year.

Also, the book on gender theory sitting next to me.

And progress *any* of the current books that are being read aloud to the family. Preferably Monstrous Regiment.

I started reading it because there was a random copy on a bring out your dead pile. And then finished it before bed that night, as well as reading two chapters to the kids. Have now given the extra copy to a workmate, who was a bit suspicious of the idea of reading anything Discworld until I pointed out that while it had crossover characters, it didn't really fit with any of the other books. I may possibly not have said anything more about it, other than 'I really love this one'. I have hopes...

sounds like a sensible decision. Do you have anything that you are planning to read instead?

I'm 3/4s of the way through The Accidental Empress, by Allison Pataki, and while it's perfectly serviceable historical fiction I am having a hell of a time getting myself to finish it. I look at it and just turn away in boredom to do anything else. It's due back at the library on Monday, though, so I need to buckle down and finish it. Hopefully I'll make some headway while sitting in the waiting room at the eye doctor today.

Short answer: All The Things. Somehow my open tabs ballooned from 2 on Monday to 45 this morning. I need to read and bookmark (or not) and close them.

I'm still working my way through "The Dream Thieves" by Maggie Steifvater. It really shouldn't be taking me so long to finish. I'm really really enjoying it :P

Otherwise "The Gunslinger" just came in for me from interlibrary loan so yay! I'm finally reading the Dark Tower series!
